About Parachilna
In Australia you need four things to be considered a town: a phone box, a letterbox, a cash machine (it used to be a bank office) and a pub. Parachilna is one of the last towns before entering the Australian desert north of Adelaide. The small town inspired Alfredo Valero and Roman Riera to eventually create a luxury lighting company dedicated to enduring craftsmanship, aided by European metalsmiths, glass blowers, ceramicists and other skilled artisans.
They chose their namesake because of the faith and passion of its residents and they wish to replicate this within their work and designs.
As Parachilna describes, designers with great talent are the least pretentious. The ones that accept advice or even critique. The ones that enjoy the pleasures of life. The ones that have a sense of humor.
The brand has worked many great design minds, such as Jaime Hayon (designer of the famous Aballs, Chinoz and Ma-rock collections), the award-winning Toronto-based architecture studio Partisans(who are responsible for the gorgeous Gweilo range) among many other great minds.
The Spanish lighting brand, Parachilna, is headquartered in the heart of Barcelona - a city with a rich design history. This is where some of the most innovative architects and designers were born, and Parachilna is proud to be part of this legacy.
The brand's home is situated in the industrial district of Colonia Güell, which was designed by the renowned architect, Antoni Gaudí. During its heyday, the area was home to a bustling textile factory, employing over 1,200 workers. Although many of the buildings have fallen into disrepair, they still retain their soul and spirit. The special energy of this space is evident in Parachilna's beautiful lamps.
