Bernard Schottlander
Bernard Schottlander was a German-born British designer, sculptor and engineer whose work seamlessly united artistic expression with technical ingenuity. After studying sculpture in Leeds and working as a welder and engineer, he developed a distinctive approach to lighting design, combining precise engineering with elegant, sculptural forms. His creations are recognised for their refined balance, fluid movement and understated modern aesthetic.
Best known for the iconic Mantis lighting collection, Schottlander explored the relationship between form, gravity and motion to create luminaires that appear both dynamic and effortlessly balanced.
