Herstal wurde 1988 in Dänemark von Lotte und Martin Herstal gegründet. Damals arbeiteten nur die beiden Jungunternehmer in dem Geschäft, und seitdem ist viel passiert. Am Anfangdieser Erfolgsgeschichte war Herstal ein kleines Geschäft, das Halogenbeleuchtung verkaufte, aber jetzt hat es sich zu einem Familienunternehmen mit elegantem Design entwickelt, das weit über Dänemarks Grenzen hinaus wächst. Die kontinuierliche Entwicklung neuer Produkte ist eine Voraussetzung für Herstal. Deshalb arbeitet Herstal mit einer Reihe von talentierten Designern zusammen.
